Week 4 college football matchups are here, and we’re comparing the odds to how they opened before the start of the season. The 2025 College Football season has been one that has packed multiple surprises. Perhaps the biggest surprise has been the Clemson Tigers—many people’s pick to win the College Football Playoff National Championship—who stumbled out of the gate. The loss to LSU wasn’t horrible, as LSU currently sits as the No. 3 in the AP Poll. Outside of Clemson, there are plenty of other teams that have surprised, both positively and negatively.

Florida vs Miami

When the Florida Gators and the Miami Hurricanes met last season, the Hurricanes won 41-17. It was their first meeting in five seasons, for a rivalry dating back to the late 1930s. Coming into the year, among other Week 4 college football matchups, some speculated that this game would have featured two teams ranked in the top ten. The odds reflected as such when the early line opened with Miami being a 3.5-point favorite.

Miami has lived up to incoming expectations, defeating Notre Dame in Week 1 and the University of South Florida in Week 3. However, the Gators have gone in the other direction. Their lone win came in Week 1 against Long Island University, followed by consecutive losses to USF and LSU.

As a result of the losses, the odds have seen significant line movement, as the line currently sits at 6.5, favoring the Hurricanes. The Gators’ loss to LSU was gruesome. Quarterback DJ Lagway, who entered the season as a dark horse candidate for the Heisman Trophy, threw five interceptions. If head coach Billy Napier doesn’t turn things around and the Gators aren’t at least competitive, his days in Gainesville could be numbered.

Auburn vs Oklahoma

While some games among the Week 4 college football matchups have seen significant line movement, other games have stayed pretty close to what the oddsmakers set months ago, including the matchup between the Auburn Tigers and Oklahoma Sooners. The line opened at six, favoring the Sooners, but has moved slightly to 6.5.

This is just the fourth all-time meeting between the two storied programs. They clashed last season at Auburn, where the Sooners scored 17 points over the final 8:32 to pull out a 27-21 victory. Former Auburn quarterback Jackson Arnold makes his anticipated return to Norman after appearing in 10 games for the Sooners last season. Arnold helped lead an impressive win over Baylor to start the season, in which he rushed for 137 yards and two touchdowns.

He’ll likely have a chip on his shoulder coming into this one. While the Sooners have been elite at home under Brent Venables with a 15-4 record straight up, they’re just 11-8 ATS over that span. If you’re going to take Oklahoma, make sure you get it at the key number of 6.5 before it moves to seven or further.

Other Top Matchups

The game between in-state rivals, Oregon and Oregon State, has seen the line soar from the opening number of 27, favoring the Ducks, to 35.5. Sophomore quarterback Dante Moore has looked exceptional throwing the football this season and has led the Ducks to a No. 3 ranking. Some weren’t sure if they would return to form after the departure of Dillon Gabriel, but Moore has stepped in admirably and is looking to lead Oregon to a second-straight Big 10 Championship.

Among the Week 4 college football matchups, perhaps one of the best games is between No. 9 Illinois and No. 19 Indiana, with the Hoosiers favored by 5.5, just as they were in the preseason. Former Wisconsin head coach Brett Bielema has done a marvelous job at turning the Fighting Illini around and into a top-10 power. Last year saw Indiana have a magical run to the College Football Playoff, and this season could be Illinois’ turn. But first, they’ll have to make it out of Bloomington with a win.

Another intriguing game among the Week 4 college football matchups is the Michigan Wolverines traveling to Lincoln to take on Nebraska. This one is still close to the preseason number of 3.5, favoring the Wolverines, but now sits at just 2.5. Is this the season that Matt Rhule turns Nebraska into legitimate contenders for the Big Ten? We’ll find out on Saturday night.
