With the NFL season rapidly approaching, it’s time to start laying down those futures bets. Whether they’re on regular season win totals or players to lead the league in a particular statistic or winning some sort of hardware, there are more than enough options to keep a hungry bettor satisfied. Here, we’ll look at some of those regular-season win totals and recommend some unders you should look to take right away.
Kansas City Chiefs | u11.5 wins -120
NFL fans across the world watched the Kansas City Chiefs advance to yet another Super Bowl. But, it wasn’t without controversy, as the Chiefs came out on the fortunate end of many of the close games in which they were involved.
It’s difficult to think that the Chiefs can continue that streak of good fortune. Last season, they earned five of their 15 wins by three points or fewer, and 10 wins were by seven points or fewer.
This is no knock on Patrick Mahomes’ talent. Nevertheless, Travis Kelce took a notable step back last season, and Rashee Rice is almost certainly going to miss time after his September 30 hearing. The Chiefs will almost certainly be contenders in the AFC; they might not reach this hefty mark.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers | u9.5 wins -115
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will get the answer to a key question this year. “Is Baker Mayfield that good?” We’ll find out now that Liam Coen has departed to take the head coaching job with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Mike Evans remains a legitimate weapon in this league, but DraftKings’ receiving yards total for the six-time Pro Bowl receiver suggests he’ll fail short of 1,000 receiving yards for the first time in what will be his eighth year. Between Evans’ age and Chris Godwin working his way back from a significant ankle injury, this team could fall back to earth.
This year may not be the strongest for the Bucs, and this division could prove to be more open than people think. They’ll still benefit from a weak division, but health, as always, will be a significant factor for their playoff aspirations.
Miami Dolphins | u8.5 wins -200
The Miami Dolphins are in a make-it-or-break-it year. Mike McDaniel has proven to be an offensive genius when all of his offensive players are at his disposal. It’s no secret that Tua Tagovailoa has missed significant time, which has hindered the team from reaching its full potential.
If they’re all healthy, and that’s a huge if, they could be in contention to go over. Given recent history, this number seems a bit high. If Tagovailoa goes down, it makes weapons like Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle considerably less valuable. Sunny skies aren’t promised in South Florida this season. Consider taking an alternative under if the -200 is too much juice to swallow.
