Matt Robinson grew up in Plano, Texas, carving out a hockey path in a place better known for football under Friday night lights. He played juniors in the NAHL, college hockey at the University of Arkansas, and has even played some pro roller hockey following graduation. Eventually settling in Reno, where he still skates with the Senior A Reno Ice Raiders and coaches the University of Nevada’s ACHA Men’s Hockey team. (While still getting on the roller rink as much as possible)
Outside the rink, Matt embraces the Reno-Tahoe lifestyle — snowboarding in the winter, golfing in the summer, and betting the sports he knows best. NHL and college football are his typical go-to plays, where he combines a player’s perspective with sharp analysis to find edges others miss. Years of competing taught him how to recognize mismatches, momentum swings, and when a team is just out of gas. While earlier in his betting career, he’s become a regular on the Ice Guys show at least twice per week during the last two NHL seasons. He constantly is asking “is it October yet?” as he gears up for another great NHL betting season.
