My friends, I’ve been doing this for over 45 years, and for the life of me, I just can’t figure out why the Anaheim Ducks are an underdog at home against the Ottawa Senators. These two teams haven’t met since last December, a month in which they split two matchups. Anaheim took the earlier meeting at home, while Ottawa took the latter meeting on their own ice as well. This season, we’re seeing these two teams play very different hockey. The Senators are 9-6-4 overall, which does include a 3-2-2 away record. They have not taken the ice since the 15th, a home loss at the hands of the Kings. Yes, the ducks played last night at home to a 4-3 victory over the Bruins. That was their second of back-to-back victorious games, both played at home, as a matter of fact. They have won seven of their last 10 overall games, which does include a perfect record at home during that span. This is a team that’s strides when they are on their own ice, winning six consecutive games has a Honda Center, and overall sport a home record of 7-1 this season. There is no question both teams can score as they both rank in the top five in goals scored. The big difference you’re gonna’ see in this matchup is on the defensive/goaltending side of the ice in which Ottawa ranks 30th, getting plowed for over 3.6 GPG. Playing on their own ice, riding some momentum, coming in hotter, and having a better goalie in the net, are all angles that benefit the home team here. Take the Anaheim Ducks. Thank you.
