The 49ers find themselves at 3-0 despite not having Brock Purdy for two of those games. He returns against the Jaguars, who have the 4th ranked defense against the run. While that doesn’t bode well for Christian McCaffrey to get going on the ground, they can get him going in the passing game. The Niners do have the top passing offense in the NFL currently, and the Jaguars’ pass defense has been average (ranks 17th after three weeks). While there’s no replacement for losing Nick Bosa, Defensive Coordinator Robert Saleh will find ways to get to Travis Lawrence via Bryce Huff and rookie Mykel Williams. Jacksonville is 1-9 on the road since last season, and has lost its last eight games against NFC West opponents. I think the return of Purdy buoys the Niners to at least a 4-point victory, a total they’ve covered in two of their three victories this season.
