As of Saturday morning, a lot of the money has come in on the home team Vanderbilt Commodores. And folks, I understand why. They have moved up to 10th in the national rankings, while Missouri sits at 15th. Both teams are 2-1 in SEC play this season, and both do have tough opponents on deck as the Tigers face the Aggies, and the Commodores face the Longhorns. As a matter of fact, both teams regular season schedules look pretty tough over the next month. Yes, Vanderbilt has covered five of their seven outings this season, while Missouri is 4-2-1 ATS in 2025. And, yes, this is just Missouri’s second, yes just their second game played on the road this season. However, they did come up big last week on the road at Auburn, prevailing 23-17. Quarterback Diego Pavia has put up some solid numbers, and is in the race for the Heisman. Counterpart Beau Pribula has some very respectable numbers as well, but not as impressive. So why do I come in with the underdog here? Missouri possesses a very powerful rushing attack that will allow them to control the tempo and the clock, and open up their passing game. It will also allow them to keep Vandy’s defense on the field, and Pavia and their offense off of it. Yes, the Commodores run defense is extremely talented. But overall, they are a little lax against the pass, a place in which the Tigers “D” shines. Missouri’s defense ranks 16th in the nation, allowing 16.7 points per game. Granted, the Vanderbilt defense allows just 20.0 PPG, but I do feel that the visitor matches up a little bit better with their opponents offense in this matchup. This is going to be a game that we should all watch and enjoy. But I do feel if we’re gonna’ make a wager on it, there is value in taking the underdog. Take the Missouri Tigers. Thank you.
