The #14-ranked Arkansas Razorbacks open their season tonight with a 6:00 PM local (7:00 PM EST) tipoff against the Southern Jaguars of the SWAC.
The game takes place at Bud Walton Arena in Fayetteville, and even though it’s not a marquee matchup, the atmosphere should still be electric.
The last meeting between these two came back on December 9, 2020, when Arkansas cruised to a 79–44 win. Fast forward to now – and the buzz around John Calipari’s second season as the head coach of this Razorbacks team, couldn’t be higher. A strong recruiting class and a productive run through the transfer portal blend perfectly with key returners from last year’s roster.
The Hogs got off to a slow, injury-riddled start last season but still battled their way to the NCAA Tournament as a 10-seed. Anyone who watched that game against Texas Tech knows they were this close to advancing to the Elite Eight – not bad for a team that had to grind early on.
This year, they enter the opener fully healthy and poised to start fast. I expect Arkansas to come out firing at home, build an early lead, and cover comfortably. If they don’t, it might be a red flag for what’s to come – but I don’t see that happening.
Give me the Hogs to cover. Cheers!
