Erik Spoelstra is more flexible than you thought. After finishing with one of the NBA’s 10 worst offensive ratings in three straight seasons, Spoelstra has changed the Heat’s slowdown style into a 4×400 relay team.
The Heat are the fastest-pace team in the NBA this season at 112.3 possessions per 48 minutes. Their new style caught the Grizzlies totally off guard this past Friday. Miami scored a franchise-record 86 first-half points in a, 146-114, road victory.
The Knicks scored 119 points against the Cavaliers, a top-12 defensive team last season, in their opener. New York is the second-most accurate free throw shooting team in the league.
New York is going to be without injured center Mitchell Robinson again. That’s a plus for the Over as Robinson is a very good shot-blocker, but a well below average scorer.
Given the Heat’s new up-tempo style, expect a higher-scoring game than what the oddsmaker thinks.
