I see the Mariners as a bargain at this price. Logan Gilbert is at least half-run a game better than Jack Flaherty, who is just another pitcher at this stage of his career while Gilbert is elite now that he’s back healthy.
Gilbert has yielded only seven earned runs in his five September starts. He has the superior bullpen behind him. The Tigers have been held to three runs or fewer in 10 of their last 12 games. Detroit is batting .141 in this series.
Detroit is 10-22 in Flaherty’s starts this season.
Both pitchers are right-handers. Seattle’s offense ranks third against right handed pitching while the Tigers are 19th.
