The Rangers and Red Wings meet for the second time in nine days, this time at Madison Square Garden. Both are coming off of Saturday games (NYR were in Columbus, Red Wings hosted Buffalo). The Rangers home offensive scoring woes seemed to disappear upon the return of Vincent Trocheck against the Predators on Monday, but I’m not totally sold that their issues are behind them. Former Ranger Cam Talbot will get the start for the Red Wings, who has gone 6-2 with a 2.93 GAA and an .892 save percentage, but actually plays better on the road (2.76 GAA, .919 save percentage). In net for the Rangers will be Jonathan Quick, who has shined so far in his limited workload, going 3-1-0 with a 1.26 GAA and a .950 save percentage. The Rangers rank fifth-worse in goals scored per game (2.67), while Detroit allows 3.18 gpg. On the flipside, the Rangers are 2nd best in goals allowed per game (2.56), while the Red Wings score 2.94 goals per game. With both teams having to travel on Saturday night, I think we’ll get a slower paced game where both goaltenders stand out. I’d take this at Under 5.5 as well, but there are still some places to get good value on 6.
My only premium play from Wednesday's 4-game NHL slate
