The Washington Commanders are coming off a tremendous turnaround season in their first year with Dan Quinn as head coach and Jayden Daniels as QB. That being said, there are strong signs of at least some regression on the way this season and the defense still remains somewhat of a question mark which is of great concern when asking a team to lay nearly a TD in a divisional game. Washington’s offense was dynamic and explosive a season ago but that was in spite of having a middling offensive line which is once again a unit that has question marks entering this season. The strength of the NY Giants defense is what could be one of the better fronts and pass rush units in the NFL this season with the likes of Kayvon Thibodeaux, Brian Burns and rookie Abdul Carter out of Penn State who was a dominant edge rusher at the College level. This matchup could pose some trouble for the Commanders in the trenches. NY Giants QB Russell Wilson is not what he once was but gets a manaegable first matchup here against a defense that still has holes in it. It’s worth noting how tough this divisional matchup was last season for Washington despite them being the better team. The Commanders won both meetings against the Giants last season but both were margins of 5 points or less and I think the NY Giants are an improved team starting the 2025 season. I’ll take the points with the NY Giants expecting a very close divisional battle just as it was between these two teams in both games last season.
Pick: NY Giants +6.5 -120
