This is a play on the NEW YORK METS for our Thursday Free Play. The Mets collapse is not as bad as the Detroit debacle but it is up there in terms of what was once a playoff lock and coming down to the final weekend. Nolan McLean has been a much needed spark to the starting rotation and he will be needed tonight with the bullpen coming off 13.2 innings of work over the last two games. He has a 1.27 ERA and 1.01 WHIP through his first seven starts to go along with a 46:14 K:BB ratio. Chicago is two and a half games up on the Padres for the top Wild Card spot in the National League after snapping a five-game losing streak with the 10-3 win on Wednesday. Shota Imanaga has had a great season with a 3.17 ERA and 0.95 WHIP through 24 starts but he has regressed. After allowing three runs or less in five of his first 16 starts, he has allowed that same amount in six of his last eight outings. The long ball has been the issue as he has allowed 29 home runs on the season with 13 of those coming over those eight starts and he has allowed 18 home runs in his last 11 games. Here, we play on National League teams with a starting pitcher whose ERA is 3.70 or better on the season after two straight games throwing six or more innings. This situation is 44-11 (80 percent) since 2021.
