I love mid-November matchups between undefeated teams. Today, in the Big Ten, we have the Hoosiers traveling to Eugene, Oregon to face the Ducks. Both teams have been perfect thus far this season. As far as Indiana goes, yes, they faced a couple of doormats in their early season schedule. But everyone raised an eyebrow towards the end of September when they absolutely shredded Illinois, 63-10 at home. Now if they were due for a letdown, it would’ve happened the following week on the road when they faced Iowa. But they did prevail in that game 20-15. Oregon has absolutely shredded every opponent thus far this season. They have had their share of lay down opponents as well. Their most recent outing back at the end of September on the road, they picked apart Penn State from start to finish. Both teams have had a week off to rest, heal, and prepare for this big game matchup. Looking at upcoming schedules, the Hoosiers have remaining regular season contests against the Spartans, Bruins, Terrapins, Nittany Lions, Badgers, and Boilermakers. In all sincerity, I don’t see another team giving them too hard of a time. For the Ducks, they have remaining games against the Scarlet Knights, Badgers, Hawkeyes, Golden Gophers, Trojans, and the Huskies. I don’t see any of those opponents giving them too much competition either. Maybe Iowa, if they’re healthy. Having said all that, statistically these two teams have some very impressive numbers. They both rank in the top-10 in scoring, while both offenses rarely make mistakes and turn the ball over. They both rank in the top-10 in scoring as both defenses have come up big. As a matter of fact, a lot of their numbers are very similar. So, what does this game come down to: coaching, talent, and home field. I’m not going to deny the fact the Hoosiers have a very smart coach. But playing in Oregon gives the home team a huge edge in this matchup. I feel overall, the Ducks have a little more talent, a little more speed and a very friendly fan base that will get very angry very quickly when their opponent has the ball. I don’t know if Indiana has felt too much pressure thus far this season. But they certainly will feel it in this game. I think the number is sharp here. It’s attractive to both favorite and ‘dog bettors. But I feel Oregon just has way too much talent. Take the Ducks. Thank you.
