We had Cleveland as a premium winner last night but we are going against the Guardians in a contrarian play. This is something that is hard to explain but 10 weeks ago, the Tigers had a 15.5-game lead over Cleveland in the American League Central and a 12.5-game lead just a month ago and now they are tied. Detroit is down to just three games over .500 on the road and lost a big chance last night with Tarik Skubal on the hill and now it turns to Jack Flaherty who has been a disappointment but is in an equal pitching matchup here. He has a 4.25 ERA over his last 10 starts which is not great but better than his overall and road numbers and this more recent sample size is more beneficial to look at. His last two road starts have actually been very good as he allowed one run in 10.2 innings against the Royals and Yankees. Cleveland has won 11 of its last 12 games to get in this position and the Guardians improved to 42-34 at home with their 17-5 record this month playing a big part in that. Tanner Bibee has been average as well and while he has pitched better at home, he has a 4.48 ERA over his last 10 starts which is right in line with Flaherty.
