MLB FREE PLAY (959) Cleveland Guardians vs. (960) Boston Red Sox
The Boston Red Sox are currently sitting in a tie with the New York Yankees, just 2.5-games back of the Toronto Blue Jays in the American League East. The Cleveland Guardians are sitting in third place in the Central, 10.5-games back. There are still a lot of baseball to be played in the regular season, and anything can happen. One thing for sure, the Red Sox need to keep their foot on the gas. They have taken three of four meetings this season with the Guardians, which does include Game 1 of this series yesterday, by a score of 6-4. Cleveland is a good team. But if they’re going to make a run at least for a Wildcard opportunity, they must start winning on the road. With yesterday’s loss at Fenway Park, they have now dropped six consecutive games played as a visitor. To be quite honest, I doubt that slide will end here today. Inconsistency has been an issue for Cleveland at the plate. They rank 28th in runs scored, and 30th in team batting average. Things don’t look too good for this team as Boston ranks in the top-10 in just about every major offensive category. That would be enough for me here. However, they also send Slade Cecconi to the mound today. The right-hander is 5-6 with a 4.41 ERA on the campaign. This is his first career appearance against the Red Sox, and I feel he’s in for a long day. He has not earned a victory since the third week of July, and he’s giving up significant runs in just about every turn. For Boston, Garrett Crochet takes the hill. The left-hander is 14-5 with a 2.40 ERA in 2025. He is 10-1 in his last 15 outings, and the team is 12-3 during that span. Over his career in 12 appearances against Cleveland, which includes just one start, he is 1-1 with a 1.17 ERA. With the way the Red Sox lineup has been surging, and the way their pitching staff has been stable, I feel they are a play here today. A little too high on the money line. So, we will take Boston on the run line. Thank you.
PICK: Boston Red Sox on the Run Line -1.5 -120.
