The Eagles welcome 51 fresh faces to the program is 2025 as they get set to play their first ever regular season game in the state of Texas while attempting to push their season opener win streak to five games.

Texas State is coming off a 7-6 season after handing North Texas a loss in the First Responder bowl (30-28), marking the second straight season the Bobcats have come away with a win at University Park. Texas State isn’t dealing with the same turnover as the Eagles but their losses are just as critical with the graduation of quarterback Jordan McCloud (3200+ passing yards, 30 TD, 70% completions rate). Freshman Brad Jackson who is graded as a C+ signal caller will take over for McCloud.

Leading rusher Ismail Mahdi (1,186 total yards) transferred to Arizona delivering a massive blow to the Bobcats ground game.

There are a lot of questions to be answered but I think the depth issues that many analyst say with be an issue for the Eagles will turn out to be better than anticipated, especially on their defensive line and secondary.

Our concern is game one and until I see how Texas State rebounds after key departures on offense, I have very little interest in laying double digits against a team that should a defensive advantage.
