The Guardians leapfrogged Kansas City with a 10-2 win on Monday and backed it up with a 2-0 win last night behind a pair of gems from Slade Cecconi Joey Cantillo and they remain 2.5 games out of the final Wild Card spot in the American League. Logan Allen will try and keep the red hot starter run going but he is not capable. He has a 4.55 ERA in 26 starts which includes a 4.05 ERA at home in 14 outings and it has been a rough stretch of late as he has allowed 16 runs in his last 16 innings over his last three starts. Kansas City fell to four games under .500 on the road after getting handcuffed again by the Guardians starters and the offense has a chance to break out tonight and the Royals desperately need this series split. Jonathan Bowlan will get the start in what will be a bullpen game for the Royals and it comes at a good time. He has a 3.57 ERA and 1.13 WHIP through 35.1 innings and has five appearances of at least 2.0 innings, so there is a chance he stays in the game past the first inning. The reason it is a good time is that the bullpen is fresh as only two arms went last night for a combined one inning.
